Ordering for the next

Original post: December 1, 2010

Remember that quote that says that you should treat the others the same way you would like to be treated? Well, this statement became quite true at The Ogori Cafe.

The idea is this: you order for the next person on line and what you get, is what the person before you asked for. This interesting experience took place at the Urban Design Center at Kashiwa, Japan, and although it was temporary, it has brought subjects for conversations until now.

If you don’t read Japanese, nothing in the environment would make you think that that was a different Cafe, except by a sign explaining five simple rules:

  1. Treat the next person

  2. Form a single-line

  3. Enjoy what you get

  4. Say ‘Thank you’ if you find the person

  5. They don’t issue receipt.

I believe it’s a nice surprise for anyone’s routine!
