Share some Love in New York

The Ultimate Intervention Day! Today was a day to be remembered! : )

First of all, it was the best day of the year. It was sunny, warm and we could actually see the first signs of spring. Everybody seamed happy, using bright colors and carrying a big smile.

Then, we decided to go to Washington Square, which is usually a nice place, but specially today, there were tones of events happening at the same time. All of them about happiness. José Saramago has a book where everybody from a city suddenly wakes up blind, well, in New York it looked like today, everybody woke up kind!

I set my booth as usual, but the goal for today was to “Share some Love”. People who participated should write a small note to a stranger, leave it in the box, and pick up another random note that a stranger has just left to them. I wasn’t supposed to read none of the notes, because I wanted to make everybody feel comfortable, but they all looked very satisfied with their notes.

And I had a lot of great help: Chris Choi and Burcum Turkmen were there recording and marketing the event with me. And also Liz Kauff was doing a parallel intervention, which I will talk about later.

The Crew!

About courage

I wasn’t going to post anything today. I got back in NY and was welcomed by the completely lost of my hardrive. All the files that I’ve been working on lately are gone. I felt so frustrated that was hard to think about anything nice to say.

But then I saw this movie, and made me think about how sometimes we are so worried about making a fool of ourselves that we might be prevented of experiencing great things, like LOVE. (Hopefully, there might always be a stubborn girl to admit it no matter what 🙂 ).

Just Another Love Story

This is not exactly related to kindness, but it’s the movie I made with the bouquet below. I just wish I had a tripod, but even though I think Chris Choi and Ann Marie look really nice together.

My intention behind this was to show that relationships usually may follow a traditional path, with ups and downs, and we all end up in the same place, sooner or later.

Happy Valentine’s Day

After a fast research about Valentine’s Day, aunt Wiki told me that it has different meanings according to the culture, but it all started with Valentino, a man who liked to distribute gifts and kindness to people a long, long time ago.

So, no matter in which place of the world you are now, this should be a day to celebrate love and remind ourselves that we’re not alone. Everybody always has something to give and something to accept.

Thinking about that, The Random Acts of Kindness Organization created the RAK week, and each day of the week they will post a nice thing that everybody can does.

Today’s task is to SEND A NOTE OF APPRECIATION to someone. That can’t be hard, right? And is also free. So what are you waiting for? Go tell someone why do you think they’re special!
